The one that scares people

Black mold
removal.Handled calmly, removed completely.

Black mold gets a lot of headlines. The truth is calmer than the internet makes it sound, but it still needs to come out the right way. We contain it, remove it at the wood, treat the surfaces, and fix the water problem feeding it.

The straight story

Less panic, more know-how.

"Black mold" usually refers to Stachybotrys, a greenish-black mold that grows on wet drywall, wood, and paper. Is it something to take seriously? Yes, especially if you have kids, older family members, or anyone with asthma. Is it a reason to panic and move out tonight? Almost never. What it needs is correct removal, not a fog can and a prayer.

We treat black mold the same disciplined way we treat any mold: find the moisture, seal the area, remove the growth, treat what stays, and dry out the cause. The color does not change the method. The thoroughness does.

Straight answers

Common questions

When should I get a mold test?
Buying or selling a home, after a leak or flood, if you smell something musty, or if someone in the house has unexplained allergy or breathing trouble. Testing turns a worry into a fact.
Is black mold really dangerous?
It can cause real symptoms, allergy flare-ups, coughing, headaches, and worse for sensitive people, but the danger is usually overstated online. The right response is calm, correct removal, not panic.
Can I remove black mold myself?
A small spot on a hard surface, maybe. But if it is on drywall, on wood, or larger than a square foot or two, do not disturb it yourself. Breaking it up sends spores everywhere. Let us contain it first.
Will it come back after you remove it?
Not if the moisture is fixed. Mold needs water. We do not consider a job done until the source of the dampness is solved.
